Transport
Deliver all
specimens to the laboratory promptly after collection. If
transport will be delayed, refrigerate all specimens except
the following: 1)Spinal Fluid and other body fluids: hold
at 35C 2)Genital specimens; hold at room temperature or
35C 3) Blood in isolator tube: hold at room temperature
4) Gastric specimens: deliver to laboratory immediately
after collection. The acid content of gastric specimens
requires that they be neutralized for optimal recovery of
acid fast organisms.
