The Ultrasound department at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital and the O’Quinn Medical Towers is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The radiologists are board-certified through the American Board of Radiology.  The Ultrasound Technologists are Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS), and fulfill their credentialing requirement by maintaining continuing education required by the American Board of Registered Sonographers.

The Ultrasound department uses the most advanced technology and equipment capable of performing a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Utilizing color flow and power Doppler imaging we are able to accurately image the abdomen, pelvis, liver and kidneys; including liver and kidney transplants and TIPS surveillance. High frequency transducers are dedicated to the specialized evaluation of the neck, thyroid, and musculoskeletal system.

St. Luke’s utilizes dedicated radiologists to perform ultrasound guided interventional procedures including:

  • Ultrasound
  • Liver/Kidney biopsies
  • Thyroid/Lymph Node biopsies
  • Neck biopsies
  • Prostate biopsies
  • Parencentesis/Thoracentesis
  • Abscess/fluid collection drainages

A leader in advanced ultrasound research, St. Luke’s is one of three centers in the country selected to conduct research on an advanced therapy that uses technology to treat uterine fibroids.
