St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital houses a specialized 20-bed neuro intensive care unit staffed with specially trained nurses and neurointensivists. The Neuro-ICU is staffed with Neurointensivists who ensure that life-threatening critical events and changes in brain function will receive immediate attention. The Neuro-ICU unit also houses the NeuroLogica CereTom® portable CT scanner which allows on-demand, point of care head/brain CT scans to be performed at the bedside without interruption of continuous monitoring of vital functions. This portable technology allows for optimum care for the extremely ill and/or fragile post-operative neuro patients.

The clinical staff in the Neuro-Intensive Care Unit includes:

• Neuro-Intensivist Board Certified Neurologists devoted to the comprehensive multi-system care of critically ill neurological patients & fosters multi-disciplinary collaboration with multiple subspecialists
• All RNs NIH Stroke Scale certified
• Advanced Practice Nurse
• Stroke Coordinator
