Technology in Action
St. Luke's Neuro-ICU houses a portable CT scanner which allows head CT scans to be performed in the ICU at the patient's bedside, so scanning can be performed without interruption or moving the patient from the ICU.

- Continuous EEG monitoring to detect seizures in real-time
- Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound for early detection of vasospasm in patients wtih subarachnoid hemorrhage (ruptured aneurysms)
- Licox Brain Tissue Oxygenation monitoring to detect early changes in brain oxygen in brain injury patients
- Intracranial pressure continuous monitoring to detect cerebral edema and in an effort to optimize cerebral blood flow
- Telemedicine capabilities to provide acute stroke and brain hemorrhage assessments to telestroke network hospitals
