The board-certified Internal Medicine physicians of St. Luke’s Medical Clinic (SLMC) have a wealth of experience among them and provide convenient, service-focused attention to their patients. Each was selected to join SLMC based on his/her good character and reputation for practicing high quality medicine.

 

Dr. Nali Spence 

Nali Spencer, M.D.
Dr. Spencer joined the staff of St. Luke's Medical Clinic-San Felipe in 2009. She earned her medical degree from Aga Khan University, and subsequently completed her internship and residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Thereafter, she worked as a hospitalist in Sioux City, Iowa and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Dr. Spencer is board certified in Internal Medicine.

Stephanie B. Mundy, M.D.
Dr. Mundy is a Board Certified internist and sixth generation Houstonian. She earned her Medical degree and completed her Residency training at Baylor College of Medicine. She was on staff at St. Luke’s for five years, and for the past six years has worked at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the emergency room as an Assistant Professor. Most recently, Dr. Mundy served as the Associate Medical Director of the Emergency Center at MD Anderson. She returns to St. Luke’s to take care of Internal Medicine patients. Dr. Mundy is conversant in Spanish.

 

Dr. Kneitz 

Joel S. Kneitz, M.D.
Dr. Kneitz loves to help patients take charge of their health concerns and problems. His management style is hands-on and prefers to act as a coach to help make a difference in his patients' lives.

He will assure that you are fully engaged in making a difference in your health care, that you understand your medications, and will follow your progress carefully. Internists are the masters at coordinating multiple medications and subspecialists, helping to resolve conflicting issues and medications. They are often the place to start and coordinate simple or complex care.

Dr. Kneitz earned his medical degree from University of Texas Medical School in Houston and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He previously worked at the St. Luke’s Health Center on San Felipe for four years. After a brief detour to practice in Fredericksburg, Texas, he and his colleagues have been at the St. Luke’s Medical Clinic since it opened in October 2007.

 

Dr. Kirmani 

Shezi Z. Kirmani, M.D.
Dr. Kirmani is a Board Certified Internist who earned her medical degree at the prestigious Aga Khan University Medical School, rated as one of the top medical schools in Asia. She completed her residency and fellowship training at University of Texas, Houston. After finishing her training, she moved to Kansas City with her family and joined Health Corporation of America (HCA), where she earned recognition as a leading physician in her field of Internal Medicine by her patients and peers. Most recently, she received the SERVICE FIRST award (Friendliness, Integrity, Responsibility, Patient Satisfaction, and Teamwork) award by the Harris County Hospital district for her hard work and dedication. Dr. Kirmani prides herself in providing high-quality care with personal attention.

 

 Dr. Borden

Starr Borden, M.D.
Starr Borden, MD, is board certified in Family Medicine. Born in Miami, Florida, she completed medical school and residency in Family Medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1978 and has been practicing medicine in Houston ever since. Dr. Borden joined St. Luke's Medical Clinic to be part of a group of physicians who share her passion for quality medical care. She promotes comprehensive care with emphasis on prevention, patient education and patient involvement in the decision making process of their care. Dr. Borden sums up her philosophy of medicine, "After over 30 years of applying the science of medicine, I've learned it's the art of medicine that's the most difficult and often the most important aspect of what I do."


 

Dr Kapur 

Nitin Kapur, M.D.
Dr. Kapur, an internal medicine physician, joined the staff of the St. Luke's Medical Clinic in December 2011.  Prior to working at the St. Luke's Medical Clinic, he was a hospital-based physician at the St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.  Dr. Kapur is excited to transition from treating acutely ill patients in the hospital to the clinic where he can focus on providing preventative, lifelong care to his patients. 
 
Dr. Kapur grew up in McAllen, Texas, attended college at Rice University, and medical school at UT-Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.  He completed his residency in internal-medicine, with a primary care focus, at the Yale University School of Medicine.  He holds a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health and won an applied epidemiology fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during his time in medical school.  His creative non-fiction essays, based on patient encounters, have been published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and the Journal of General Internal Medicine (JGIM). In his spare time, he enjoys running with his dog, Willa, eating brunch with his wife, Alpna, and writing.  He is conversant in Spanish.
