OVERVIEW
St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital is ranked among the Best Hospitals in Urology and Kidney Disorders by U.S. News & World Report. We have more than 13 clinical urologists performing over 2,800 inpatient and outpatient procedures each year.

Our expertise covers the spectrum of clinical urology. Our leading clinical research enhances our capabilities to offer the highest quality of care. Our urologists diagnose and treat problems involving the  male and female urinary tract and the male reproductive organs. Urologists have a familiarity with many other medical fields — such as internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, geriatrics and oncology — in addition to their surgical training.

The St. Luke's Urology Center, a program of our urology services, has a full range of diagnostic and treatment services and the latest in state-of-the-art equipment.  High quality medical professionals will respect your confidentiality and treat you with sensitivity.

St. Luke's Urology Center staff members have thorough training in diagnostic evaluation and treatment of urinary control or retention problems, erectile dysfunction, prostate enlargement, prostate cancer, as well as other urinary problems.  You'll return to the confident, comfortable and in-control lifestyle that you deserve.  You are welcome to bring a family member to accompany you.  Results of most diagnostic exams are available (and sent to your physician) immediately.

TECHNOLOGY
Patients undergoing urologic procedures benefit from the latest high definition video system at St. Luke's.  The HD technology, combined with the latest cameras and imaging systems for endoscopy, enhances the capabilities of surgeons performing minimally invasive procedures.  HD produces a high level of visual clarity on a widescreen monitor and allows a surgeon to more easily identify anatomical structures, making the surgical procedure safer and more efficient for the patient.

St. Luke's operating room also features the da Vinci® Surgical System.  This minimally invasive method uses the latest surgical and robotics technologies and is well suited for delicate urologic surgeries, including prostatectomy.  Patients typically experience less pain, blood loss and scarring; have fewer complications and shorter hospital stays; and return more quickly to normal activities.

OUR CARE
The patient's care will be provided by a highly qualified nursing staff.  St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital was re-designated the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet status in 2009 due to our commitment to interdisciplinary practice, ongoing professional development, use of evidence-based practice in the delivery of nursing care and ongoing nursing research. We were the 37th hospital in the nation and first in Texas and the Southwest to receive the honor in 2001, and again in 2005.  St. Luke's has joined the elite one percent of hospitals in the nation to achieve this status three times.
