Prostate Risk Factors & Symptoms
While the exact cause of prostate cancer is unknown, there are risk factors that can increase your chances of developing this disease. Some of these risk factors include:
- Age
- Family history
- African American heritage
- Obesity
- Alcohol consumption
In most cases, prostate cancer does not display any symptoms. If symptoms do occur, patients may experience:
- Urgent need to urinate
- Blood in urine or semen
- Difficulty stopping or starting the flow of urination
- Painful ejaculation
- Pain or pressure in rectum
These symptoms could indicate a number of things that are not prostate cancer. If you experience the above symptoms, talk to your primary care physician.
